SVDP Athletic Policies  and  CYO Info

St. Vincent de Paul Parish sponsors a range of athletic activities for students from the parish day school and PSR program.  These activities are designed to instill a healthy competitive spirit and good sportsmanship in the participants and contribute to school spirit and loyalty among the student body.  This Athletic Program Policy has been formulated by the Sports Club and the Parish and School Administration with the intention of extending the overall Christian Education from our education programs to the athletic programs thus reinforcing the Christian values being taught in our homes, our day school and PSR Program.  Accordingly, the St. Vincent de Paul Sports Club welcomes the help of St. Vincent de Paul parents as volunteers and coaches in all sport programs and activities.

All students of the parish who wish to participate in the CYO and intramural athletics must conform to these standards.  Failure to do so will result in dismissal from these programs from one week to a complete season depending on the severity of the offense.  Students who participate in these sports activities must maintain effort in scholastic work and be truly representative of the parish and school.  The standards for participation in the CYO and intramural athletic program in St. Vincent de Paul are as follows:

  1. SCHOLASTIC STANDARDS
Students who participate in these sports activities must maintain effort in scholastic work, have satisfactory completion of all Homework Assignments, and be truly representative of the parish and school.  Students, who have a significant drop in grades, are on probation or suspension may not represent the parish in sports activities.  Students who are absent from school are not expected to be at practice/game that day.

  2. DISCIPLINE STANDARDS
The student is expected to act in a Christ-like manner at ll times whether in or out of school. He/She should demonstrate an honest, unselfish, morally good attitude toward others including fellow students, parents, teachers, other adults and members of the opposing teams. The following is a list of specific violations of discipline standards: improper behavior in school; use of profane or immoral language; willful damaging of property or equipment;  stealing or cheating;  disrespect for coaches, officials, teachers, and other adults;  immoral conduct;  unsportsmanlike conduct during practice or games;  and/or use of narcotics, illegal drugs and the drinking or possession of alcoholic beverages.
