The following are the PASTOR'S NOTES from Sunday,
May 4, 2008
(Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord)
May is always a very busy month for our parish family.
With the start of the month of May, we are always amazed
at the amount of activity that is crammed into this
month. May is a month of celebration as we celebrate
First Communions, Graduations, and other special events.
For our parish family, May
marks the end of a number of educational programs. Our
Pre-School Religious education program has comes to an
end after a very successful year. Also our Parish school
of Religion (PSR) finished after meeting on Sunday and
Monday for the entire year. Also our Sacramental
preparation programs have come to a conclusion with the
celebration of First Communion.
May is the month of the
Blessed Virgin. During May, we will be honoring Mary
each day with a recitation of the Rosary each day. Also,
we will have a special May Crowning with the students of
our day school on Wednesday, May 14th at the 8:30 Mass.
Also during May, many
people begin the annual task of getting the garden
ready. During this month, Deacon Ken Hill will be hard
at work planting flowers in front of the Church and
Rectory and along Lorain Ave. We pray that there will be
plenty of rain, no weeds, no critters, just the right
amount of heat and beautiful flowers!
May, is often
refereed to as the "Wrap Up" month. Many of our
organizations close down (Parish Council, Holy Name
Society and the Altar and Rosary Society) during the
summer for a well deserved rest. During this year, there
were many successes by the various parish groups who
have worked hard and long for the betterment of our
parish. Our Parish Family is very grateful to the groups
for the outstanding work done. Also during May, the
school begins to slow down as they begin to prepare for
a well deserved summer vacation.
Finally, May is a bridge to
the summer time. During this summer, we will be involved
in a number of projects to clean, paint, and repair
parts of our buildings. Also, during the summer the
cluster group should be concluding their work on shaping
the future of the Catholic Church in our area.
