The following are the PASTOR'S NOTES from Sunday,
April 27, 2008
(Sixth Sunday of Easter)
With the celebration of First Communion next
Saturday, a number of our education programs will end.
The parish family is very grateful to Virginia Hueter
and the teachers in our PSR program. Starting in
October and continuing throughout the year, the teachers
have brought the richness of faith to students attending
Charter and Public Schools. Part of the teaching has
been to prepare the children for the reception of the
Sacraments of Confirmation, First Penance, and First
Communion.
The Pre-School of Religion
classes will also be coming to an end soon. Led by Sandy
Hill and the teachers, they have done a great job in
teaching our "little ones" about God and the Church. We
are always grateful when they bring their children to
Mass to entertain us with their songs at Christmas and
the end of the school year and joining us in the
entrance procession during Thanksgiving and Palm Sunday.
Though we did not have an
RCIA this year, usually it would be ending around this
time. The RCIA is a program to prepare Adults to be
received into the Church by a Profession of Faith or
through Baptism. We will be asking again if there are
individuals interested in joining the faith and
hopefully will be starting a program in the fall.
Also, this week is the
start of the Month of May which by Tradition is the
Month of Mary our Mother. During this month, please try
to say the Rosary each day and perhaps start the
tradition of having a May altar in your home.
