LITURGICAL MINISTRIES AND PARISH GROUPS

at ST. VINCENT de PAUL PARISH

LECTORS (Readers)

In this ministry, Lectors proclaim the Word of the Lord at Mass, as well as reading the General Intercessions, which are also known as the Prayers of the Faithful.  All lectors will be placed on a rotating schedule for Sunday Liturgies. Lectors will also have the chance to sign-up for any Holy Day Masses that occur.  Lectors may also read at the Daily Masses as well.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS (Extraordinary Ministers) and MINISTERS TO THE HOMEBOUND
In this ministry, Eucharistic Ministers help distribute the Precious Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ to the congregation at Sunday and Holy Day Liturgies, and, if needed, to distribute Holy Communion to those who are homebound. Training is required by the Diocese of Cleveland, and is usually held in the Fall and Spring. Further information can be obtained by contacting the Parish Office or by visiting the Guidelines for Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion Assisting at Mass.

ALTAR SERVERS (Youth, High School, and Adults)

In this ministry, you assist the priest during the Mass. Duties include, but not limited to are: setting up of the Altar at the Offertory, bring the cruets filled with water and wine to the priest, washing the priest's hands, and so on. To sign up for this ministry, your child must be in Grade 5 or higher, and he/she has been baptized and made his/her first communion.  We are also looking for High School Servers as well as Adult Servers for Daily Evening Mass and Holy Day Masses.

MUSIC MINISTRY (CANTOR PROGRAM)

Music and song are recognized as being very important to our worship. The music ministry's ever-evolving pursuit is to lead, teach, encourage, and enhance the singing of the congregation at various liturgies. A cantor is a member of our parish family and a minister of the Church. He/She is a leader, teacher, and "encourager".

A cantor knows the music well enough to lead and assist the congregation's singing, encourages participation of the faithful, and helps teach new music.  If you are interested in becoming a cantor, please join us every Wednesday evening, from 7:30pm to 9pm, in the Church. No appointment necessary. No audition. Please join us as we make a "joyful noise unto the Lord".

USHERS

In this ministry of hospitality, you are greeting the people as they enter the Church. They also assist in finding people to bring up the gifts at the Offertory (if applicable), and help take up the collection.  Lastly, you help distribute the bulletins to the people as they leave the Church.  In order to become an usher, you must be at least 18 years of age, and a registered parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Parish. If interested in joining, please contact the Parish Office.

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY
The Mission of the St. Vincent de Paul Society is that we follow the example of our patron, St. Vincent de Paul, in helping the poorest among us to maintain their quality of life. Vincentians, as we are called, give of our time, energy and resources to follow the words of Christ:  "I tell you solemnly, in so far as you did this to one of the least of my brothers of mine, you did unto me."  -Matthew 25:40

The assistance we provide includes donating food, furniture, clothing, and giving referrals and counseling.  If you are interested in donating your time as a member, please call the Parish Office at 216-252-2626 and leave your name and phone number. Someone will contact you with more membership details.
